- Legal - New recycling laws cardboard is banned!

- Idea - Which celebrity will be your ambassador?

- Mini brief - Leeds oyster card name and logo - half an hour!!!!

This mini brief was to create a simple design/concept for Leeds version of an oyster card in 30 mins. We wanted to keep in with the animal theme; but chose an owl as this is Leeds symbol/emblem and owls can be seen all over the city.

I chose to create a really simple and attractive logo style depicting the owl in a bold and memorable way. We chose Vag rounded for the typeface as this followed the clean and minimal aesthetic of the symbol logo and was positive and friendly to look at.

We chose this pink colour as its used on the current travel services throughout Leeds and we wanted the card to be a continuation of that.

- No computers for the next hour

- Needs a character

- Product placement in a TV show

The way we chose to go about this brief was to have an initial ideas generation session then assign each person with a specific job as we felt this was realistic of how a studio works.

We came up with the theme of magic - kind of like a harry potter themed cereal for kids in which they would feel like a witch or wizard when eating the cereal. Each box would come with a themed toy - wand, hat, spell book etc.

The cereal itself would be shaped by the theme - cats, hats, wands stars to make the food itself visually fun and also have edible glitter to make it extra magical.

Within our team we each elected a role within the final design in order to finish within the small amount of time.

I produced the background design - informed by the magical theme I used purple colours that are iconic of witches and wizards. I used simplicity and subtle detail so the information could sit comfortably on top without the background taking any attention from it.

Emily designed the logo - hand rendered to represent the old style theme within magic/design. And replacing the a with a star to represent further our theme and tone of voice.

I actually also produced some designs for our character - a black/dark cat as this is symbolic of witches, rather than having a witch we felt an animal was much more appropriate for the younger demographic. My design however wasn't chosen by the group as they felt it was too Japanese in style and needed a more adaptable design.

Laura produced a hand rendered design for the information section of the box design. Following the theme within the typeface and making something organic and personal.

Lastly Amelia created the design for the back of the box, including an interactive little games section to engage with the younger audience. I composed each element together within the design. Matching key colours of purple, black and gold that are iconic of our magical theme. The design works well and portrays the tone of voice needed for the concept and audience.

We presented our Stardust - magical way to start the day - as a mock up. Explaining the box would be plastic and would offer re-fills for an environmentally and pocket friendly approach to cereal design.

This was a really interesting task as working under such pressure to complete a design in a short amount of time was hard. I felt although this was an enjoyable day I didn't really fit into my team well. I have a really different design style and preference to a lot of them so the outcome to me wasn't in a style that I usually work in. But this is realistic of the real world as I wont always be working with people who have the same vision, making this a very valuable experiance.
